About Arthur Smith
Biography coming soon...I've always been a creator. From construction to cosplay, making armor to puppets, to embroidery, props, weaving, leather work, etc. But I either can't physically do them anymore or have no outlet for them any longer (and who needs 100 puppets staring at you from stands??). I've tried drawing and painting, but was never happy with the results; they never looked as perfect in real life as they did in my mind so I was never happy with them. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of abstract art. I don't get most of it. But I recently saw works by the artist Kre8 and was blown away! It spoke to me and made me want to share what it said! I don't totally see what I am doing as abstract. To me, everything I paint, is real. There is a subject that is usually plain to see. A person, an object maybe even just a word. But the abstract part, that's something real as well. In one painting, it might be ideas, in another it might be magic, or grace, or diversity, or growth or any number of things. But always something real, something that can never be held back, something that insists on exploding out from where we lock it away and into the real world to be set free and seen. It's the shy kid who is amazing once you get to know them. It's the person who is held back by fear or prejudice saying they'll no longer be surpresed. It's an idea begging to be born. It's God sharing His love and grace to a world in need. It's an old man, beaten down by circumstance saying, "I'm not done yet." Join me in the journey, won't you?
